2014 Chevrolet Impala

Information Specification Modification Image Review 2014 Chevrolet Impala
A staple of rental car fleets across America, the current-generation Chevy Impala is anything but an object of desire. But with the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Impala making its world debut at the 2012 New York auto show, the Bow Tie brand is promising to erase memories of the long-running nameplate’s largely forgettable outgoing model with a more refined interior, the latest in technology, and a vastly improved driving experience when it goes on sale in early 2013.The 10th-generation Impala is based on a stretched version of GM’s Epsilon II platform, which also underpins the Cadillac XTS and Buick LaCrosse. The car will be offered exclusively in front-wheel drive, and offer three engines to pair with a standard six-speed automatic transmission. Those direct-injection engines include a 2.4-liter I-4 with eAssist mild hybrid technology, estimated to produce 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque; a 2.5-liter Ecotec I-4 estimated at 195 hp and 187 lb-ft; and the familiar 3.6-liter V-6 producing 303 hp and 264 lb-ft. Those numbers are up slightly from the 3.6-liter engine in the current Impala, which produces 300 hp and 262 lb-ft. The General expects the 2.4-liter eAssist model to be EPA-rated at 35 mpg on the highway. The platform-mate LaCrosse eAssist is rated at 25/36 mpg city/highway – expect similar numbers from the 2014 Impala.

Three powertrain possibilities
Depending on your budget and desires, the Imapala can be had with one of three engines: 2.4-liter four-cylinder with eAssist, a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder or a 3.6-liter V6. The 2.4-liter Ecotec engine is good for 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque, followed by 195 horsepower and 187 lb-ft of torque for the 2.5-liter four-cylinder, which is then topped by the 303 horsepower, 264 lb-ft of torque 3.6-liter VVT engine with direction injection.
All three engines come mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and drives the front wheels. Fuel economy is expected to come in at 35 highway with eAssist, 31 highway with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder, and 18 city, 30 highway with the range-topping V6.

Top 20 Best Selling SUVs In Canada July 2014

Its over. The Honda CR-V will not be Canadas top-selling utility vehicle in calendar year 2014, nor will the Toyota RAV4 or surging Nissan Rogue or anything other than the Escape.
Two other Fords cracked the top 13, the Edge and Explorer.
• All Makes & Models Ranked By July 2014 YTD Canadian Sales
• All SUVs/Crossovers Ranked By July 2014 YTD Canadian Sales
No premium brands positioned a SUV or crossover in this group of 20. Jeeps Grand Cherokee, however, was joined by two less costly Jeeps in the top 12, the fifth-ranked Wrangler and eighth-ranked Cherokee.
Among vehicles in the top 20, no year-over-year decline was worse than the Kia Sorentos 19% drop. Overall Kia sales fell 17% in July, as the Sportage fell 19%, the Rondo slid 55%, and car sales decreased at a 10% clip.
Historical monthly and yearly sales figures for any of these best-selling SUVs and crossovers can always be accessed through the dropdown menu at GCBCs Sales Stats page, and for those not viewing the mobile version of this site, near the top right of this page, as well. GoodCarBadCar has already published the list of Canadas best-selling trucks in July and a list of Canadas most popular cars.

^ BMW USA, not GoodCarBadCar, has chosen to combine sales figures of the 1-Series and 2-Series.
Clearly GoodCarBadCar is not suggesting that the cars in the two tables above are all direct competitors. Establishing categories among cars as unique as even the Audi TT and Porsche Boxster has never pleased a single reader, so cars have been lumped together so you can simply see how buyers looking for sports cars, roadsters, hot hatches, convertibles, GTs, and wanna-be sports cars spend their money. Greater categorization of cars would only lead to problems that automakers create by not isolating model-specific sales figures: we dont know how many M3s BMW has sold or how many Civics are Si models, for example. The numbers we do have are listed above. The BMW 6-Series has been removed from the premium list because we dont use this space as a showcase for sedans (unless automakers release data for high-end sporting models like the Lexus ISF, as Toyota Canada does) and the 6-Series lineup now relies heavily on a sedan variant. GoodCarBadCar is always open to hearing about the ways you would break down segments, so feel free to get in touch. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts. Sales data for brands such as Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, Rolls-Royce etc. are unfortunately not broken down by model. ANDC estimates say sales for those brands in August 2014 were 102, 175, 59, 14, and 75, respectively. Tesla, unfortunately, doesnt release model-specific monthly U.S. sales data, but HybridCars.com estimates 1200 August Tesla sales, 10,600 YTD.
